Explore Shakespeare in an interdisciplinary, experiential context.

The Applied Shakespeare graduate certificate is an interdisciplinary program offered in partnership with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the departments of English and Theatre & Dance.

This program is designed to benefit a wide range of students:

  • Lifelong Shakespeare enthusiasts enroll for a deeper dive into Shakespeare’s plays, a behind-the-scenes look at Shakespeare in production and an opportunity to consider new ways in which Shakespeare might apply to their own careers and lives
  • Teachers take away new tools for making Shakespeare fun, accessible and engaging in their classrooms
  • Theatre artists enroll to learn more about the innovative work that other theatre arts practitioners are doing in their communities

Info Session Recording

Not only does Applied Shakespeare offer a unique way of exploring how Shakespeare fits into our contemporary world and serves diverse populations, but with students coming from such varied backgrounds, each class session has been insightful and engaging and our professors have been both incredibly knowledgeable and encouraging throughout the course and the initial stages of our capstone development.
