Emily Gleason, PhD, is the director of the Teacher Leadership program, the stackable certificate based MA program that she helped design and develop with an eye on equity, accessibility and professional learning. She is also a Teacher Professor in the Learning Sciences and Human Development department in the School of Education, as well as an affiliate faculty member with the Renée Crown Wellness Insitute. Emily currently teaches K-12 teachers, undergraduates studying adolescent learning and doctoral students engaging in qualitative research methods. Emily has worked with university-community partnerships in urban and rural areas over the past 20 years and has a strong commitment to listening and learning from community members, such as teachers, youth and families.
Directing the Teacher Leadership program is the joy of Dr. Gleason’s career; she also loves her role as a Learning Sciences and Human Development (LSHD) professor in the School of Education, as she engages with incredible colleagues and students as they support designing for learning in innovative, humanizing and culturally sustaining ways. Dr. Gleason has a PhD in Language, Literacy, and Culture from UC Berkeley and a Master of Arts in English Literature. In her free time, Emily loves hiking and swimming, as well adventures with her wild and wacky two girls, her awesome partner, Matt, and Suki, their ridiculous pandemic puppy.
