Matt is the Senior Manager for Corporate Sustainability at VF Corporation. He is responsible for the environmental footprint of all owned and leased operations globally. His team addresses Scope 1 and 2 emissions/required reporting, extended producer responsibility (EPR), waste, and 'other duties as assigned.'

Matt started his sustainability career in 2008 as a consultant at Cascadia Consulting Group in Seattle, WA. He has worked with for-profit clients such as WM, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Pactiv, as well as public-sector customers in California, Washington, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and many more.

In 2012, he moved to Park City, UT, with his now-wife to lead the Environmental Sustainability program for Park City Municipal. Matt garnered national media attention from Outside Magazine, POWDR, and Sundance Film Festival for Park City’s 2032 carbon neutrality goal. He was also active in UDSN, Partners for Places, and the Western Adaptation Alliance.

Matt joined the University of Utah’s Sustainability & Energy program in 2016. His highlights include negotiating the largest university renewable energy contract (at the time, the third-largest ever), achieving the lowest energy consumption and cost in eight years despite 23% growth, and establishing a $25M revolving loan fund.

Before joining VF, Matt was a multifamily developer, working on projects that ranged from award-winning low-income developments to impact fund-driven high-end construction.

Matt holds an MBA in Sustainable Business from Pinchot University and a BA in Biology from Colorado College. He loves hiking and exploring with his wife, Peregrine, and daughter, Esmé. He is a proud member of the Rancho Gordo Bean Club and finds new ways to complicate the simple act of making coffee.
