Dr. Joyce Henderson has numerous years of human capital expertise at the executive level. She directed the human capital initiatives in employment branding, recruitment, staffing, selection, compensation, benefits, employee retention, engagement, training, development, loss prevention, EEO, valuing diversity, labor relations, communication, metric reporting, and employee engagement at Marriott International. She also led the strategic initiatives for succession planning for high potential employees and organizational competency planning. One of her key accomplishments was the startup of Courtyard by Marriott along with strategic responsibilities for mergers, acquisitions, and the growth of Marriott International to the global organization it is today. As the National Vice President of Human Resources for Volunteers of America, Dr. Henderson’s responsibilities included human capital for the unique charity with over 6,000 employees nationwide. Her role and major accomplishment there was to transform the human capital function from an administrative role to one that was more strategic and value added for the success of the organization. Through the company she co-founded, Invision, Dr. Henderson provided executive coaching to organizations and the individuals in them for exceptional individual and collective engagement and effectiveness.

Research interests and publications focus on transformational learning of Chief Executive Officers and the transformational learning of students in the online classroom. Dr. Henderson practices the Community of Inquiry (COI) model in her online classrooms and is dedicated to sharing her human capital, leadership, and management expertise with her students to develop their leadership, management, and human capital competencies for even more effectiveness and accomplishments in their careers and lives.
