Cailyn Craven
- Assistant Teaching Professor
- APPLIED COMPUTER SCIENCE POST-BACCALAUREATE
I bring a multi-disciplinary background with work spanning the academic and private sectors. My experiences include over a decade as an entrepreneur, running an e-commerce business, data consulting in the renewable energy space, working on online course design in the Office of Academic and Learning Innovation, and projects like working with a team at CU on brain tumor segmentation.
Why do you like teaching for the Post-Bacc program?
Teaching for the Post-Bacc program, you work with students who are driven and passionate about completing the degree and gaining as much knowledge from each class as possible. It is an extremely rewarding group to have an opportunity to teach. As a CSPB graduate, I understand firsthand the excitement (and challenges) of pivoting a career and pursuing an online degree while juggling life responsibilities like family and work. The flexibility that this program offers is invaluable, and I want to be a part of providing that experience for others.
What do you like to do outside of CU?
I love living in Colorado- especially the mountains, skiing, and the sunshine. In all seriousness, I like taking long walks. Watching sunrises and sunsets is a life goal of mine, and I'm on a mission to see as many as possible. My favorite day would start with reading on the porch with a cup of coffee. This past summer was filled with many fun activities like riding bikes, doing yoga, playing Pokemon Go with my kids, and working on creative projects with them at the library maker studio. This fall, I'm eagerly anticipating our season tickets to CU Buffs football games (and cheering for the Green Bay Packers).
