What is your current professional role or position?
I am the Event Planning and Communication Coordinator at the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the University of Colorado Boulder. In this role, I strategize, design and execute impactful events that foster teaching innovation and collaboration across campus. Beyond event coordination, I oversee marketing and communication initiatives, ensuring that CTL’s mission and programs are effectively promoted through engaging digital content, newsletters and social media campaigns. I also collaborate closely with faculty, graduate students and staff to highlight their work and provide resources that support academic excellence and inclusivity.

How did you learn about the Corporate Communication program?
I learned about the Corporate Communication Master’s program through CU Boulder’s College of Media, Communication, and Information (CMCI) website while exploring opportunities to further my education and grow my professional skills in communication and organizational strategy.

Why did you decide to join the MA in Corporate Communication program? What were your goals?
I joined the Master of Arts in Corporate Communication program because I was seeking a master’s program that combined practical skills with a strong theoretical foundation in communication. My goals were to deepen my understanding of corporate communication, improve my strategic thinking and gain tools to enhance organizational collaboration and leadership. The program’s flexible structure and focus on relevant, real-world applications made it the perfect fit.

What has been your experience?
The program has been incredible. The courses are engaging, the faculty are supportive and knowledgeable, and the content is directly applicable to my work. I’ve particularly enjoyed opportunities to collaborate with my peers, many of whom bring diverse professional perspectives that have enriched my learning experience. The program has pushed me to think critically about communication strategies and how they impact organizations and stakeholders.

What progress have you made toward achieving your goal(s)?
The program has already had a significant impact on my career. I recently transitioned into a new role at CU Boulder, where I am leveraging many of the skills I’ve developed in the program, such as stakeholder engagement, strategic communication planning and organizational storytelling. I’ve also grown more confident in my ability to lead communication initiatives and navigate complex organizational challenges.

What advice would you give to a peer who finds themselves in a similar situation?
I would encourage anyone considering the Corporate Communication program to take the leap. If you’re looking to advance your career, build new skills and broaden your perspective, this program is an excellent choice. My advice is to stay open to new ideas, actively engage with your peers and instructors and embrace the opportunity to apply what you’re learning to your professional context.

What have you learned from this experience that you will take with you?
I’ve learned the power of clear, strategic communication in driving collaboration and fostering innovation. The program has also taught me how to analyze and address complex organizational challenges through a communication lens. Above all, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the role of communication in shaping organizational culture and achieving goals. These insights will continue to guide me in my current role and throughout my career.
